Youth for Peace
The National Youth Bunge Association and the National Cohesion and Integration Commission co-sponsored a nationwide youth peace festival in the weeks before the Kenya elections. More than one million Kenyan youth have organized themselves into youth bunges, or parliaments, in the past two years. By voting for local, county and national youth bunge leaders, these youth actively practiced democracy in more than 20,000 youth bunges across Kenya.
Youth, who were both the perpetrators and the victims of violence following Kenya's presidential election in 2007, led the way towards peaceful elections.
