President Kibaki launches the Kenya Youth Empowerment and Employment Initiative

USAID/Kenya awarded a Global Development Agreement cooperative agreement grant in August 2010 to Nazarene Compassionate Ministries Inc. on behalf of Africa Nazarene University (ANU) of Kenya to implement the Kenya Youth Empowerment and Employment Initiative (KYEEI).  This $350,000 award will be matched by contributions from the US and Kenya private sector, higher education and faith-based organizations, as well as the Government of Kenya Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

Launched in March 2010 at the KYEEI Annual Summit by President Kibaki, KYEEI will mobilize government, business, higher education, and faith-based organizations to realize commitments made towards job creation for youth in Kenya to sustain the efforts of Vision 2030.  The KYEEI Secretariat, hosted at ANU, will oversee the implementation of the Blueprint for Action first developed by KYEEI stakeholders at the March summit.
