What is USAID?
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is the principal U.S. agency to extend assistance to countries recovering from disaster, trying to escape poverty, and engaging in democratic reforms.
It is an independent federal government agency that receives overall foreign policy guidance from the Secretary of State.

How do I apply for an internship with USAID?
At the moment there are no internship positions available.
How do I learn about employment opportunities with USAID?
Please go to USAID-Employment Opportunities. Please note that USAID ONLY accepts CVs in response to advertised positions. Unsolicited CVs received through the mail will be discarded.
How can I become an implementing partner with USAID?
USAID conducts open competition for contracts, grants and cooperative agreements to find the most qualified implementing partners for USAID/Kenya’s development assistance programs at the best value to the US Government.

Who may apply for funding for programs in Kenya?
An implementing partner can be a US or local non-governmental organization (NGO), a commercial organization, an individual, or an international organization.
How will a proposer know whether USAID Kenya has received my proposal (or concept paper) and how long should I wait for a response?
A USAID Senior Program Officer or his/her designee will notify the applicant within 60 days of any further interest in the application or lack thereof.
If USAID has further interest in the proposed activity, USAID may request the applicant to submit a more detailed application. Such a request is not a commitment by USAID to support the activity. The applicant's decision to submit a more detailed application is at the applicant's discretion, and any expenses associated with preparation and submission of the application is the responsibility of the applicant.

Can I apply for USAID/Kenya funding to conduct or attend a conference, symposium or workshop?
USAID does not support one-off conferences or seminars.
Can an award be made to an individual?
With exceptions of scholarships to students, all other awards are made to the Government of Kenya, nongovernmental organizations, business associations, and private sector firms.
I would like to apply for a student scholarship. How do I go about this?
USAID Kenya has a scholarship scheme specifically for students who have been orphaned or made vulnerable due to HIV/AIDS and who are in secondary school, middle level colleges, or university (up to undergraduate level). For more information visit the the OVC Scholarship website.
Unfortunately funds under this program are fully committed and we are not considering new applications.
How can I be part of the Yes Youth Can program?

Can the same proposal submitted to USAID Kenya be submitted to other organizations for simultaneous review?
Yes, nothing stops you from submitting the same proposal to other donors.

Does USAID Kenya fund proposals for the purpose of purchasing equipment, materials or supplies?
Yes, depending on the solicitation issued.
